BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix of The Week: Claude von Stroke

This is one of my favorite BBC Radio 1 Essential Mixes from November 10, 2007. Claude von Stroke keeps it jacking throughout the entire two hours and gives a pretty good representation of why his record label (Dirty Bird) has been so successful. Loaded with different genres of house, this is sure to keep you dancing for as long as you can handle dancing.

Artist Feature: Miami Horror

Jumping onto the dance-pop scene with their "Bravado EP" in 2008, producer Benjamin Plant creates a sound drawing its influence from late 70s and 80s disco, new wave, funk, synth and dance, but mixed with today's electro/synth/dance-pop and the result is quite enjoyable. 2010s debut LP "Illumination", opens with the dance-heavy "I Look To You", followed by perhaps the most enjoyable song on the album, "Holidays", destined to be a summer smash. The middle of the album keeps it going with three excellent tracks, "Summersun", "Sometimes" and "Moon Theory" before slowing it down with "Soft Light" and "Illuminated", then ending with "Ultraviolet". The live show consists of a four-piece act of keyboards, guitars, drums and bass. Miami Horror is an artist to watch for in the coming year, destined for success on dance floors all over the world.
